Protest: Opposition to deposit four months advance amount in electricity bill, preparing to agitate

Many organizations of the city are mobilizing on the orders of the Electricity Department to deposit the advance deposit. He says that even after depositing the security, how can the department recover the advance amount of four months. This is illegal. This order should be withdrawn. Otherwise the people of the organization will be forced to agitate.

Paras Bhardwaj, convenor of Save Faridabad, has said that the government should take back the advance deposit amount coming in the electricity bill. Describing the advance deposit amount as an atrocity on the public, it was called an anti-people and unjustified policy. He said that in 2020, the Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission, citing one of its rules of 2016, had ordered to put additional burden of advance deposit amount on the consumers of Haryana. According to this rule, the average bill of a month will be calculated by dividing the electricity bill of the consumer by the number 12 for one year. Then by multiplying this bill by the number 4, the payable amount of two cycles will be calculated. Then it will be recovered by adding it to the electricity bill of the consumer.

Paras Bhardwaj says that while getting the meter installed, the electricity department already deposits it in the name of security deposit. He alleges that now the government wants to break the back of middle class and poor families by depositing four months advance amount. The government considers the people of Haryana as thieves. Because the officials of the electricity department say that this amount is being collected so that if a consumer leaves the city without paying the electricity bill, then the electricity department is not harmed. He said that soon the organization will give a memorandum to all the public representatives and concerned officials. If the hearing does not take place, the matter will be taken to the court.
