Crossover model Tiggo 9 in China for the first time filmed without camouflage. Experts came to the conclusion that the car outwardly became very similar to the Range Rover Velar, the Chinese Automobiles publication reported on November 25.
The premiere of Chery Tiggo 9 was scheduled at the Guangzhou Auto Show, which was supposed to take place on November 18, but the auto show was postponed. If the interior of the novelty was studied in some detail, then in appearance there were many questions – the body of the Tiggo 9 was always tightly covered with camouflage film.
According to the publication, the front of the car is made in the style of the new Chery Tiggo 7 Plus. The car received a rather aggressive bumper and a “family” radiator grille with vertical slats, but the body of the new car itself became similar to the Range Rover Velar.
Experts believe that Chery decided to adopt the approach of Geely, which uses the development of a team partner, Volvo, in its new models. In Chery’s case, Land Rover filled that role, as the Chinese company owns a 50% stake in Jaguar Land Rover’s joint venture in China. And even the modular architecture, on which the entire current Tiggo range is based, was developed in collaboration with the British manufacturer. At the moment, it is known that Tiggo 9 will receive a cabin for five or seven seats. The variant with two rows of seats will receive only front-wheel drive and will be equipped with a two-liter engine with 254 hp. and a seven-speed “robot”. The more spacious version will get the same engine and all-wheel drive transmission.
On November 21, it became known that Chery is ready to export ZX Auto cars under its own brand, since it does not yet produce commercial pickups. In September of this year, the brand took a closer look at the manufacturer of ZX Auto equipment, which produces the Weishi 1986 four-wheel drive pickup truck. Chery, using its well-established logistics and brand authority abroad, wants to quickly introduce relatively affordable pickups to the world market. It is possible that such a machine may appear for export to Russia.
