Drone footage of the defeat of the positions of Ukrainian nationalists on Friday, May 20, was made available to Izvestia.
With the help of Russian Grads, artillery and mortar batteries of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as command posts and positions of militants are being fired.
Currently, fighters of the People’s Militia of the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) are advancing in the direction of Zolote.
As Izvestia war correspondent Denis Kulaga said, the difficulty in moving between positions due to bad weather remains a serious problem.
“It has been pouring rain in the region for the third day, and in order to get to the designated place, it is necessary to use a cross-country vehicle. This, in turn, also hinders the movement of the offensive forces of the LNR,” he said.
One of the fighters of the LPR told the journalist exactly how Grad works.
“We use this for 9M22S shells, incendiary. It is set at the specified time with the specified range and target. Each range has its own time, seconds. Here it’s 90 seconds,” the soldier said.
Seconds are set with a special key according to the range. Undermining occurs in the air at the specified time before the projectile falls to the ground.
On May 19, Kulaga showed precise strikes by crews on the positions of the Ukrainian armed forces in the LPR. The journalist showed how the crews of infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) start the equipment and leave the shelter. The crew then opens fire, helping the infantry to support the advance.
On February 24, Russia launched a special operation to protect Donbass. Moscow explained that the tasks of the special operation include the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, the implementation of which is necessary to ensure the security of Russia. The decision was made against the background of aggravation in the region as a result of shelling by the Ukrainian military.
