Singer Alla Pugacheva on Sunday, September 4, said that under the first president of the USSR, Mikhail Gorbachev, people gained freedom and stopped being afraid for the future of their children.
According to her, then the country ceased to be the “Evil Empire” for the whole world.
“I haven’t cried like this in a long time. <...> And most importantly. Gorbachev rejected violence as a way of politics and maintaining his own power. Everything is not without sin, and politicians too. The main thing is that mistakes should not be fatal for all mankind, ”she wrote on her Instagram page (belongs to the Meta organization, recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation).
A day earlier, Gorbachev was buried at the Novodevichy Cemetery in Moscow next to his wife Raisa.
Before that, a farewell ceremony for the politician took place in the Hall of Columns. Pugacheva laid a bouquet of pink lilies at the coffin, crossed herself and expressed her condolences to the relatives of the politician. The ceremony was also attended by Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev, founder of the Yabloko party Grigory Yavlinsky, musician Stas Namin and others.

The only president of the USSR, Mikhail Gorbachev, died on August 30 after a long and serious illness at the age of 91. The death of a Soviet and Russian statesman was reported at the Central Clinical Hospital.
Mikhail Gorbachev was born on March 2, 1931. In 1985, he became General Secretary of the CPSU Central Committee and launched the political and economic reforms known as perestroika. In 1990, Gorbachev became the first and only president of the USSR. On December 25, 1991, he resigned after the August coup and the secession of the republics from the USSR.
