Russian forces entered Ugledar and entrenched themselves on the outskirts of the city. This was announced on Thursday, January 26, by Igor Kimakovsky, adviser to the acting head of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR).
“We entered and entrenched ourselves on the outskirts [Угледара]thereby fetter the forces of the enemy, ”he said on the air of the Solovyov Live TV channel.
According to Kimakovsky, the enemy is trying to counterattack, but Russian artillery is working on him.
Earlier, on January 25, footage of the affected Ukrainian firing positions near Vuhledar was published. The video shows the Russian military driving past the field, which previously housed the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
On January 24, war correspondent Alexander Sladkov announced the active offensive of the Russian army in the Artemovsky and Avdeevsky directions. He also noted that there is an advance towards Vuhledar, Krasnogorovka, Novomikhailovka, Kurakhov and Artemovsk (the Ukrainian name is Bakhmut).
Also on Wednesday, military expert Alexei Leonkov told Izvestia that the Donbass front of the VFU was breaking down. In particular, it has already cracked in Soledar, it is also cracking in Marinka, Avdeevka and Artemovsk, the expert added.
Russia continues a special operation to protect the Donbass, against the inhabitants of which Ukraine has been fighting since 2014. The decision to start it was made against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to the shelling of Ukrainian troops.
