Russian President Vladimir Putin, on the eve of his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Moscow, denounced what he called America’s policy to contain Russia and China, indicating that it has an unprecedented sharp nature.
In an article published in the Chinese People’s Daily and the Russian newspaper “Rusiskaya Gazeta”, Putin praised China’s willingness to play a constructive role in the settlement in Ukraine.
Putin added in the article that relations between Moscow and Beijing are at their peak and will continue to be strengthened, pointing out that the Chinese president’s visit to Russia embodies the special nature of the partnership between the two countries.
“We are grateful for the balanced position of the People’s Republic of China regarding the events taking place in Ukraine, and for their understanding of its real background and causes. We welcome China’s willingness to play a constructive role in resolving the crisis,” Putin wrote in an article for the Chinese newspaper People’s Daily.
Putin predicted that the volume of trade exchange between Russia and China will exceed 200 billion dollars this year, adding, “This is a new record. We expect that the goal of 200 billion dollars that we set with President Xi Jinping will not be exceeded in 2024, but rather this year.”
Putin noted that Russia and China support the establishment of a just world order based on international law and not the “golden billion” principle.
The Chinese president will visit the Russian capital, Moscow, on March 20, for a 3-day visit, where he will hold a bilateral meeting with the Russian president on March 20, and bilateral talks are also scheduled for March 21 in the Kremlin.
