Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday, September 16, commented on the statement of the Ukrainian authorities about Kyiv’s attempts to launch a counteroffensive.
“The Kyiv authorities have announced that they have begun and are conducting an active counter-offensive operation. Well, let’s see how it will be, how it will end,” he said.
At the same time, the Russian leader recalled that Kyiv had abandoned all agreements with the Russian Federation and announced that “it would seek victory on the battlefield.”
“Well, the flag in your hands,” Putin said.
The head of state also noted that only the contract part of the Russian army participates in the special military operation (SVO) to protect Donbass.
The day before, the head of the Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR), Leonid Pasechnik, said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (APU) are trying to advance along the entire front, but there is no reason to panic, as the allied forces guarantee security.
On September 14, the official representative of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Igor Konashenkov, announced the latest offensive by soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to him, Ukrainian troops unsuccessfully tried to advance in the Nikolaev-Kryvyi Rih direction, as a result, more than 150 servicemen were killed.
Meanwhile, the permanent representative of Ukraine to the Council of Europe, Boris Tarasyuk, said on September 13 that a number of foreign states do not dare to fully support Kyiv, as they doubt its ability to stand against Russia.
On the same day, the New York Times wrote that the office of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had repeatedly discussed planning a UAF counteroffensive with the White House, and the Ukrainian military leadership had regularly met with American counterparts.
Russia continues the special operation to protect the Donbass, the beginning of which President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24. The key goals of the Russian military are the denazification and demilitarization of the Kyiv regime. Moscow emphasized that the strikes were carried out only on military infrastructure.
