Charan, a software engineer from Krishna districts of AP, is doing a software job in an IT company in Pocharam, a suburb of Hyderabad. He lives in a township near Pocharam with his friends. But as it was a weekend, nine friends came to the city on three bikes together on Saturday night. India’s largest statue of Ambedkar on the tankbund of Telangana’s new secretariat, which was inaugurated recently. Later they decided to go near the cable bridge in Madapur.
As everyone was new to the city, they headed towards the cable bridge with the help of Google Maps. While the friends on two bikes left earlier, Charan went towards Mehidipatnam and took the cart on the PVNR Expressway. After traveling three kilometers on the expressway, he noticed that he was going in the wrong direction. He learned that bikes are not allowed on the expressway. As Pillar No. 82 was turning the bike to go down through the ramp, at the same time another bike came and hit him.
Longhouse Inspector Srinivas, SI Satyanarendra, who received information about the accident, immediately reached the spot. Charan and the other two friends were taken to a private hospital. Charan died on Sunday while undergoing treatment in the hospital. The other two escaped with minor injuries. The police have registered a case and are investigating the accident.
But bikes and autos are not allowed on the expressway. Only cars and buses are allowed on the expressway. But bikes and autos are also plying on the expressway as the traffic police are not paying attention. Many times the traffic police have issued challans to the two-wheelers. However, due to the lack of proper traffic police supervision, bikes and autos are also traveling through the expressway.
