Sports Desk. Indian team’s charismatic spinner and excellent all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin has said goodbye to international cricket. He announced his decision along with captain Rohit Sharma in the press conference after the draw of the Gabba Test and immediately left without answering any questions from the media. He said that my time ends here.
R Ashwin, one of India’s greatest players, said goodbye to his career while remaining at the top. He took 537 wickets and scored 3503 runs in 106 Tests. His contribution to Indian cricket goes far beyond these incredible statistics and he leaves behind a tremendous legacy. Ravichandran Ashwin played 106 Tests for India, taking 537 wickets.
During this period, in 200 innings, he took 10 or more wickets in 8 matches and five wickets in 25 innings. He is second only to Anil Kumble in terms of taking most wickets in Tests for India. He took 156 wickets in 116 ODIs, while 62 wickets in 65 T20 Internationals. Not only this, with the bat he has scored 3503 runs including 6 centuries in Tests, 707 runs in ODIs and 184 runs in T20 Internationals. He (R Ashwin) is among the smartest cricketers in Indian history. Everyone appreciates his wisdom.
While retiring from international cricket, Ashwin said- I had a lot of fun. I have made a lot of memories with Rohit Sharma and many of my teammates, although we have lost some of them (due to retirement) over the years. We’re the last OG, we can say. I set an end date for playing it at this level. I heartily thank the Board of Control for Cricket in India and the Australian Cricket Board.
