Who is Manolo Fernandez?

Rafael Fernández’s father is founder and general manager of the Farvet laboratory. He studied Veterinary Medicine at the San Luis Gonzaga National University of Ica and specialized in the production of live, inactivated and recombinant vaccines for agricultural use. In this area he already has more than 50 years of experience.

In addition to this, he completed a master’s degree in Microbiology at the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia, where he has also worked as a teacher. With the support of this institution, he developed a clinical study to develop a vaccine candidate against COVID-19.

Despite the hard work carried out by his team to generate this immunization instrument, Manolo Fernández announced at the beginning of 2021 that they were desisting from producing it due to the stress and exhaustion to which they were subjected. It is important to remember that, at that time, the press began to question the regularity of the clinical study, since it was presumed that the vaccine had already been tested in humans, despite the fact that it did not yet have the corresponding permits.

“I am really very stressed and exhausted by this situation, so we have agreed with Dr. Mirko (Zimic), only to finish the corresponding research work on animals,” Fernández told the newspaper El Comercio.

How many children does Rafael Fernandez have?

The ‘King of Eggs’, owner of the Eggtreme company, has three sons. The first of them is a doctor and currently works as manager of a pharmaceutical company. The second is studying a professional career at a University in Orlando, Florida, while the third is still a minor.
