The discount on train tickets is as follows
Males over 60 years of age before the arrival of the corona virus will receive a 40 percent discount on train tickets. The same goes for women over the age of 58 who get a half discount on the ticket price. However this facility was lifted after the arrival of Corona. This facility is still not available. According to reports, the Railway Minister has said that the government is already offering train tickets at a subsidized rate. Senior citizens are likely to get into trouble if they do not offer a discount on train tickets. Many want the government to bring this facility back.
Loss of Rs 2,000 crore
According to reports, Indian Railways is losing Rs 2,000 crore due to train ticket concessions. Railways is offering 53 types of concessions to the people. It is learned that about 80 per cent of the loss was due to the subsidy provided to senior citizens. According to reports, Indian Railways has earned an additional Rs 1,500 crore in the two years since the subsidy was not implemented. That is why the Railways are not offering discounts on ticket booking to senior citizens.
