1000 completed ponds will be dedicated to the nation on World Water Day today (March 22) as part of the 100-day action plan of the state government. The completion of the ponds and the state-level inauguration of the project will be done by Minister of Local Self-Government and Excise Department MB Rajesh Vamanapuram at Aylathuvilakam Chira in Kalamachal Ward at 11 am. DK Murali MLA will preside over the function and representatives of Trital Panchayat will also participate.
Mahatma Gandhi decided to build 2000 ponds in the state by including them in the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme as the most important medium in water conservation activities. The Minister will inaugurate the 1000 ponds which have been completed as the first phase of the project. Programs will be organized as part of this at all constituencies and gram panchayat levels.
