Song Contest | Contrast with perfect edition in Rotterdam large
‘Bad jokes, sticking stickers and… Moldova’ (AD 16-5). There is a lot of criticism about the organization and presentation during the Eurovision Song Contest in Turin. The contrast with the almost perfect edition in Rotterdam last year is therefore great. It proves once again how much craftsmanship is required to make a four-hour live show run smoothly. And yet I enjoyed myself last Saturday with the varied offer of songs, folklore and dance movements. It didn’t bother me that between all that craziness silly jokes were made and that the presenter had to drop out due to a faintness. Actually, an unpolished show fits perfectly with an event like the Eurovision Song Contest.

Song Contest II | Sometimes silly, but everyone is doing their best
I have to get something off the heart, I’ve read the comments about the Eurovision Song Contest. Can we no longer see the sun shining in the water? The people from Ukraine had a – as far as possible – positive evening, you’ll just sit there. We can disagree about quality. But last year’s number one wasn’t that nice either, in my opinion. And that has happened more than once. Sometimes it makes no sense what you see, but everyone does their best. We still had a nice evening, whining about the beautiful and less beautiful songs. Let’s stay human and above all optimistic, that’s hard enough.

D66 | They prefer to look away from the big problems
‘D66 sets Metoo case right’ (AD 16-5). Spending a lot of money, that’s about the only thing they are good at at D66. If it is not tax money, then it is from the party’s own coffers. The so-called new leadership has come to nothing, and in the meantime they want to spend billions on their vague climate and nitrogen plans. They prefer to look the other way for the real problems in our country. Hopefully this cabinet will soon be over, so that we can say goodbye to Sigrid Kaag and Rob Jetten with their small talk.

D66 II | Nothing came of the huge plans
Of course the D66 members do not get answers to their questions. It is a political party that first denies everything for years, keeps all secrets under wraps and then sends everyone into the forest. So no answers, no new leadership, no openness and no transparency at D66. Leadership at D66, Mrs. Kaag and the board are therefore not possible.

Column Thijs Launspach | Confirming appointments is indeed necessary
‘Let me think for myself’ (Column 16-5). Thijs Launspach notes very quickly that people can keep up with their own agreements. The opposite is the case, in my experience. I have been making agreements with his customers in our son’s company for 19 years, but in recent years it has increasingly happened that he is standing in front of a closed door. Forgotten appointment. A technician’s comment: ‘I’ll get to the next customer a little earlier’ very often doesn’t work because the next customer isn’t home yet. As a result, a lot of time is lost, so a loss for the company. It turns out that confirming an appointment is indeed necessary.

Anti-harassment campaign | Beer truck full of men with sick texts
‘Cookie of own dough for men: Do you feel like sex?’ (AD 14-5). In Utrecht, with the approval of the mayor, an action has been launched to point out to men how women feel when hissing, whistling, making obscene remarks, and so on. In Breda I was having a nice meal on a terrace with family on Saturday evening. Then a beer truck full of men cycles up, singing loudly: ‘There’s got to be a dick in there.’ To make you sick, so humiliating for all women. Maybe a national campaign?
