New Delhi: Congress President and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjuna Kharge has said that he is ready to give his bungalow to Rahul Gandhi.
As a Member of Parliament, Rahul Gandhi was allotted a government bungalow in Delhi’s Tughlaq Lane. Rahul Gandhi, who was elected to Parliament four times, has been living in this bungalow since 2005. The Lok Sabha Bungalow Allotment Committee decided to send a notice to Rahul Gandhi to vacate the government bungalow as he has now been disqualified from being a Member of Parliament. Subsequently, the Lok Sabha Secretariat sent a notice to Rahul Gandhi.
Responding to this today, Rahul Gandhi said, “I am vacating the bungalow allotted to me. The memories spent here so far are happy ones. Thanks to the people who have given me this opportunity by electing me as a Member of Parliament. “I will abide by the provisions of the letter issued to me to vacate the bungalow,” he said.
Commenting on this, Mallikarjuna Kharge said, “They (BJP-led government) are trying to weaken Rahul Gandhi. I condemn the government’s attempt to intimidate and threaten Rahul Gandhi. Sometimes we (Members of Parliament) are not allotted a bungalow for three, four months. Even the bungalow I am currently living in was allotted to me after 6 months. Rahul Gandhi may vacate his bungalow and live with his mother. He can come to me too. I am ready to vacate for him.
