The Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club announced yesterday the closing of registration to participate in the Abu Dhabi Sailing Race for the 22-foot class, which begins tomorrow on the waters of the breakwater in Abu Dhabi. The organizing committee said in a statement: “The fourth round is expected to witness wide participation from young sailors.” The sailing bearings are from various parts of the country, which reflects the importance of traditional sports and their role in enhancing the Emirati identity and reviving the heritage of our ancestors.”
She added: “The race is organized within the club’s agenda, which aims to integrate sports with maritime heritage, with a focus on reviving ancient maritime customs through these races.”
For his part, the general supervisor of the race, Khalifa Al Suwaidi, said: “We are pleased with the large turnout that we witnessed during the registration period for the fourth round, which reflects the great interest of the owners and crews, and the passion of young sailors and youth to preserve this traditional sport.”
He added: “The race track was prepared according to the highest standards to ensure fair and enjoyable competition, while providing all facilities to ensure the safety of participants and the success of the event.”
He explained, “Our goal with these races is not only to compete, but to enhance the spirit of Emirati heritage among new generations, and to provide a unique experience that reflects the authenticity of our maritime heritage.”
