The Wrestling Federation announced that registration for the UAE Junior Championship will end tomorrow, after it had started through clubs since August 16.
The championship will be held on September 21 at the Judo Federation Hall in Abu Dhabi, and targets the age group between 13 and 14 years, with the opportunity for players aged 12 years to participate, under certain conditions in each weight.
The tournament is held according to the rules of the International Federation, and players compete in the individual system on two mats, with the participating weights ranging from 34 to 85 kg.
For his part, Sheikh Hamdan bin Saeed bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Secretary General of the Wrestling Federation, said: “The championship comes within the Federation’s efforts to promote this sport in the country, and to increase awareness of its importance and health and social benefits, as it is the basis for all combat sports, and plays a major role in promoting physical fitness and self-discipline.”
