Walid Regragui, coach of the first Moroccan national football team, said that the Lions battalion achieved a victory over Burkina Faso with a goal to zero, for the sake of the people, after the tragedy of the Al Haouz earthquake.
During the press conference that followed the Moroccan team’s victory, Regragui praised the spirit of solidarity demonstrated by Moroccans.
The Lions coach stressed that Moroccans emerge in adversity, highlighting that everyone must know that Morocco does not stop, but rather continues to move forward.
The same spokesman added that the Lions Brigade tried to give a smile to Moroccans, after the earthquake tragedy, stressing that the team’s performance improves with time, and the goal is the African Cup.
On the other hand, the number of deaths caused by the earthquake that struck many regions of Morocco last Friday night rose to 2,946 people by 7 p.m., 2,944 of whom were buried, and the number of wounded reached 5,674 people, according to an updated toll from the Ministry of the Interior.
The Ministry of Interior revealed that the number of deaths reached 1,684 in Al Haouz Province, and 980 in Taroudant Province, while no new deaths were recorded in the rest of the provinces and provinces concerned.
Public authorities are continuing their efforts to care for the injured, shelter those affected, deliver food and health aid to them, and secure traffic on roads damaged by the earthquake, while at the same time mobilizing all the necessary capabilities to address the effects of this painful tragedy.
The National Institute of Geophysics had identified the epicenter of the earthquake in the “Ighil” rural community in Al Haouz Province, southwest of the city of Marrakesh, at a depth of 8 kilometers, with a magnitude of 7 on the Richter scale.
