Wherever you live, live in peace and friendship with your relatives, neighbors and friends. Don’t let differences keep you from our primary need to be human. I invite all people to work together to raise our families, raise our children and build our community, said reisu-l-ulama Husein ef.
In the presence of a large number of believers, the Eid prayer was offered this morning in mosques throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina. The central Eid ceremony of the Rijaset of the Islamic Community was held in the Gazi Husrev Bey Mosque in Sarajevo, where the Eid sermon was delivered by reisu-l-ulema Husein ef. Kavazović. After the morning prayer, which is offered before Eid, a festive program was held in the Beg’s mosque, performed by famous reciters of the Qur’an, ilahi and qasida.
In his narration, Reisu-l-ulema Kavazović recalled how Ibrahim, peace be upon him, sent a call to the human race to believe in one God, to profess his faith sincerely and to live in peace.
“Even today, even though thousands of years have passed, we witness the power of this call, which changed the course of human history. Faith in God and the organization of the world that springs from that faith brought the human race prosperity and progress, a happy and peaceful life. Today, while we perform the rite of sacrifice, let’s remember the path of life and the sacrifice this prophet made”, said Kavazović.
He quoted a passage from the Qur’an that says: “Ibrahim was an example of integrity, obedient to Allah, a true believer, he did not consider others equal to Allah. And he was grateful for His blessings; He chose him and guided him to the right path.”
“His (Ibrahim’s) life path was the path of new spiritual and ethical values on which the community of tawhid, faith in one God, was founded. It is a community that was created on the great sacrifice, the sacrifice that Ibrahim, peace be upon him, made when he was being thrown into the fire, and then when he was tempted in Egypt with his wife Sarah; and then when he was tempted with his son Ishmael as a great sacrifice, and then when he left him alone in the desert valley of Mecca with his mother Hajar. He had to sacrifice his own family, to leave behind his birthplace, house and relatives, in order to establish a large family of people to which we all refer today, both Muslims, Christians and Jews”, said Kavazović.
He said that “in our time, we all have to sacrifice something, like Ibrahim, peace be upon him, in order to establish the values on which we will base our life and the life of our community”.
“The divisions and isolation we are witnessing now will not save us. They only increase the selfishness that further opens the chasms of fear and intolerance among us. We must get out of the vicious circle of our delusions that others are better than ourselves. The heart is the source of inner strength, and faith is inspiration that gives strength to achieve even what at first seems impossible. Good and evil, truth and lies are separated in faith, the right path from error. Ibrahim, peace be upon him, changed himself with the power of faith, and with him the course of human history Let’s learn from his life path to change ourselves, so that we don’t remain blind and so that we don’t have to sacrifice our children and push them away from us”, said Kavazović, and continued:
“That’s why we all have to move in the same direction. It is not possible to bring our ship into a calm harbor on a rough sea without joint effort, without giving to others and accepting from others, without establishing justice that will ensure equality and respect for everyone, especially for the weakest among us. It is long past time to learn an important lesson about the country we live in: there will be no peace if alliances are made against each other, because such alliances will only increase suffering and division. Only if we all stick together can we win “.
He emphasized that those who build a house of peace with faith in God will be on the right path. And God’s way cannot be against people, because violence and enmity are the opposite.
“In order to build a better world, we need to undertake a journey to get to know each other, to share common memories, fears and experiences. Only in this way will we be able to build a common house, like the one built by Ibrahim, peace be upon him, in Mecca, and save it from our own greed. We should live in it together, to keep our memories and memories, to build our future from it, and for it to provide us with the much-needed security,” underlined Kavazović.
Kavazović said that the life that is born is a value in itself. Man himself is this same value, not what he owns. As he said, we must save ourselves, and this wonderful world around us, from our greed that knows no bounds.
“Talking about Ismail, peace be upon him, draws attention to our children, who are most often the victims of our carelessness and neglect of their growing up and upbringing. These days, a sad event in one of our schools reminded us of this. That unfortunate child of ours is just a victim of carelessness parents and the environment they grew up in. It’s high time we understand that growing up our children without the fundamental values of religion and education will turn both their lives and ours into a nightmare and despair. Let’s respond to Ibrahim’s, peace be upon him, call and raise our family on the values he and his sons raised their sons and daughters. Let’s listen to the advice of our greatest teacher Muhammad, peace be upon him, according to which a parent can leave nothing better as a legacy to his child than a good upbringing. Let’s make sure that our descendants are sincerely devoted to Allah, let them clean themselves and fulfill their vows, let them perform the prayer and share what Allah gives them and sacrifice in the name of Allah. Let their role models be Allah’s messengers and good people, not war criminals, criminals, corrupt people and people without hair and face, as we have witnessed these days in this city”, said Kavazović.
He underlined that differences should not distance us from the primary need to be human.
“Wherever you live, live in peace and friendship with your relatives, neighbors and friends. Do not let your differences distance you from our primary need to be human. I invite all people to work together to raise our families, raise our children and build our community Kavazović said.
Reisu-l-ulema Kavazović ended the sermon with the words:
“I wish all of you in the homeland of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia and the diaspora a happy and prosperous Eid. Spend them with your families, relatives and friends. I wish for the sick and the emigrants that God will give them a cure and a safe place to live and put an end to their suffering. and trials. May the Almighty bring hope into the hearts of all of us that we will live in a better world tomorrow. Bajram sherif mubarek olsun!”
The importance of Kurban Bayram or Hajji Bayram is determined by the worship of the sacrifice of the sacrifice and the distribution of the sacrificial meat to the poor, friends, and neighbors; as well as the Hajj pilgrimage, when several million Muslims stay in Mecca on certain days. Kurban Bayram lasts four days.
