New Delhi . The country’s largest telecom company Reliance Jio has maintained its number one position with a massive jump of 2 Mbps in 4G download speed. According to the data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) for the month of April, Jio’s average 4G download speed was measured at 23.1 Mbps. Jio’s average 4G download speed in the month of March was 21.1 Mbps. Jio has remained number one in Trai’s download speed test since its inception.
Data shows that the 4G download speed of telecom giant Vi (Vodafone-Idea) has decreased for the second consecutive month. It dropped from a download speed of 18.4 Mbps in February to 17.7 Mbps in April. With Vi, the speed of state-owned BSNL has come down to 5.9 Mbps. In March, Airtel’s download speed took a dive of 1.3 Mbps to 13.7 Mbps. Although the speed has increased to 14.1 Mbps in April, it is still far behind from its 15 Mbps speed in February.
Like every time, Mukesh Ambani’s company Reliance Jio has beaten Airtel and Vi in terms of average 4G download speed. In the month of April, Jio’s 4G download speed was 9.0 mbps more than Airtel and 5.4 mbps more than Vi India. Reliance Jio has consistently held the number one position in average 4G download speeds for the past several years. Vi India continues to hold on to the second position and has pushed Bharti Airtel to the third position.
Vi India topped the chart with average 4G upload speed with 8.2 Mbps. Reliance Jio won the second number with its upload speed of 7.6 Mbps. Reliance Jio was the only company whose upload speed saw an increase. Where there was no change in the upload speed of Vi India and Airtel as compared to last month. At the same time, the upload speed of BSNL has come down to 5 Mbps. Bharti Airtel is also at number three in average 4G upload speed like downloads. The company recorded an average upload speed of 6.1 Mbps in the month of April.
