The State High Court has ruled that the petition filed by Vijayawada Telugu Desam Party MP Keshineni Nani regarding the right to vote in the city panchayat is worthy of hearing. The State High Court has conducted an inquiry into MP Keshineni Nani’s exercise of her right to vote in Kondapalli Nagar Panchayat of Ibrahimpatnam mandal of NTR district. A hearing was also held in the High Court on a petition filed on behalf of the YSR Congress Party councilors of Kondapally that the petition did not deserve to be heard.
On this occasion, lawyer Sitaram argued on behalf of the YCP councilors that such petitions do not deserve to be heard in the High Court and should go to the civil court. Keshineni Nani, advocate for the TDP councilors, Ashwini Kumar argued that the petitions deserve to be heard.
Many rulings given by the Supreme Court were brought to the attention of the bench on this occasion. After hearing the arguments of both sides, the High Court issued an order that MP Keshineni’s petition deserves to be heard. However, the High Court has made it clear that MP Keshineni’s vote will be decided in the next inquiry. The High Court bench adjourned the further hearing for 3 weeks.
