The standard of living of Moroccans is still lower than it was years ago, according to what was revealed by the High Commission for Planning.
A news note from the High Commission for Planning on the results of the study of the situation in families, regarding the third quarter of the year 2023, explained that the household confidence index recorded an improvement compared to the previous quarter, but it remained at a lower level than it was during the same quarter of last year.
The source pointed out that the household confidence index moved to 46.5 points instead of 45.4 points recorded during the previous quarter and 47.4 points recorded during the third quarter of last year.
The report continued that during the third quarter of 2023, the rate of households that reported a deterioration in the standard of living during the previous 12 months reached 86.1 percent, while 9.3 percent of them considered it stable and 4.6 percent considered it an improvement.
The delegation indicated that the balance of this index stabilized at minus 81.5 points, instead of minus 84.6 points during the previous quarter and minus 74.6 points during the same quarter last year.
As for the development of the standard of living during the next 12 months, 52.5 percent of families expect it to deteriorate, 36.7 percent expect it to stabilize, while 10.8 percent expect it to improve.
The balance of this index stabilized at minus 41.7 points, compared to minus 43.7 points during the previous quarter and minus 41.6 points during the same quarter of the previous year.
