All Russian military installations are legitimate targets for Ukraine, and this also applies to Moscow. Fedor Venislavsky, a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence of Ukraine, stated this on February 4 in an interview with the Bild newspaper.
“Are the places where Russia stores its missiles legitimate military targets? Of course, no questions asked. Any command post in the Russian capital is a legitimate military target.
According to Venislavsky, the idea that Kyiv should not attack Russian territory, which some Western experts adhere to, is an idea from a parallel world.
On February 4, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said that if the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) strike at objects in Crimea, Russia will respond to this with “retaliatory strikes.” He stressed that in this case there would be no negotiations.
On the eve of the acting head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Igor Klymenko, on February 3, said that the ministry had begun the formation of assault brigades to seize the Crimea and Donbass. According to him, the basis of the units will be current and former military, border guards and police officers with significant combat experience. The additional staffing of the brigades will be carried out at the expense of volunteers.
On the same day, the Pentagon announced the allocation of a new $2.17 billion military aid package to Ukraine, which included GLSDB projectiles with a range of 150 km. Later, the US defense department said that the US was leaving it up to Kyiv to use long-range projectiles to strike at Crimea.
Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov, in turn, assured that the security of the Crimea is reliably ensured. He added that Donbass is not yet completely protected, so the special military operation (SVO) continues.
On February 2, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said he was ready to guarantee that if Kyiv received missiles with a range of up to 300 km, then such weapons would not be used to strike Russian territory. He added that for the use of such missiles, Kyiv has enough targets in the zone of the NWO.
Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Ukraine after the start of the Russian special operation to protect Donbass on February 24, 2022. The decision to hold it was made against the backdrop of the aggravated situation in the region due to increased shelling by Ukrainian troops.
