Republic Day.. A Rare Honor For Andhra Pradesh

Republic Day: Andhra Pradesh’s Shaktam has been selected for the Republic Day celebrations to be held on January 26 in the national capital, Delhi. An official statement on this matter was issued on Wednesday. In Konaseema, the Andhra Pradesh Shaktam, which has the theme of Sankranti festival, got this opportunity. Center selects Shakatas for Republic Day Parade from various states. Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and states from South India have got an opportunity. Telangana did not get a place.

Last year, permission was not given to perform Shakatala of Telugu states. The Center has allowed 12 states and 9 departments to display shakats. Among them, only shakats from Arunachal Pradesh, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Punjab, UP and Uttarakhand will participate in this exhibition. Shakats from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states were not allowed. Even though AP got a chance a year before that, it did not come to Telangana.

In the celebrations held in 2021, Andhra Pradesh.. Lepakshi (Lepakshi) temple performed shakat. In 2015, the Telangana government took an opportunity in the Bathukamma Shaktam Republic Parade. In 2020, Sammakka-Saralamma deities Shaktam performance was approved. The central government has given permission to three shakats from AP state to perform in the Republic Day parade in 2015, 2020 and 2021. However, government sources say that the selection of Shaktala will be decided only by an expert committee. It is clear that the Center has no role in this matter.
