Four- and five-star hotels in Krasnaya Polyana have raised prices for New Year’s holidays by 100% compared to 2019. The reason is the lack of competition within Russia and the inaccessibility of the Alps, the Russian Union of Travel Industry (RST) told Izvestia.
“High-quality branded hotels of the“ four to five stars ”category in Krasnaya Polyana for the New Year have really risen in price by up to 100% compared to 2019. The reason for this is annual inflation, rising prices for energy and food, as well as high demand due to the inaccessibility of the most popular foreign ski destination – the Alps, ”RST Vice President Dmitry Gorin told Izvestia.
In addition, Russia lacks quality accommodation facilities at ski resorts. This is also why there is now such a high demand and, as a result, high prices, the expert added.
Alexan Mkrtchyan, general director of the Pink Elephant travel agency network, agreed with him. He added that the budgetary accommodation of the “three stars” level in Krasnaya Polyana also increased in price – but not two, but one and a half times in comparison with 2019.
“Do not forget about the private sector, whose share in the Krasnodar Territory is close to 70%. There, in some cases, the cost has also doubled – from 5,000 rubles per day to 10,000, ”noted Dmitry Gorin.
Krasnaya Polyana is the only real alternative to the Alps in Russia today. The rest of the resorts – Dombay, Arkhyz, Sheregesh – unfortunately, do not provide the same level of skiing and infrastructure, Aleksan Mkrtchyan noted. Prices at these resorts, especially Arkhyz, also rose, but not so much, he added.
