Rising Cases In The Country .. Implement A Five-month Strategy: Center Letter To States

The Central Government has alerted the States and Union Territories on the rising corona virus cases in the country. Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan on Thursday wrote a letter to this effect stating that cases have been on the rise for the past two weeks and that the five-pronged strategy needs to be re-implemented. Corona cases have been declining across the country for the past four months and are rising again for two weeks, the letter said. The daily average number of cases was 2,663 as of June 1, up from 4,207 as of June 8.

Similarly, the positivity rate for the week ended June 1 was 0.63 per cent. As on June 8, it was 1.12 per cent. In the last 24 hours, 7,240 people were newly diagnosed with the virus across the country. Of these, 81 per cent cases were reported in Maharashtra, Kerala, Delhi and Karnataka. It is advised not to be sloppy under any circumstances.

States and Union Territories have been asked to conduct a large number of tests in areas where a high number of cases are being registered. The letter also emphasized the genome sequencing of international travelers. “The five-step strategy is to follow the rules of testing, tracking, treatment, vaccination and Kovid,” the letter said.

He said the corona Pandemic could be curtailed, especially by wearing masks, physical distance and sanitizing regulations. Also, among the four states where the highest number of cases are currently reported, Maharashtra’s daily numbers rose from 536 on May 27 to 2813 on June 9. A total of 622 new cases were registered in Delhi on Thursday. Two survivors were lost. The previous day this number was only 564. On May 27, 2,710 cases were registered in the country. As on June 9, it had reached 7,240.
