Rodrigo González is against the controversial play ‘María Maricón’
During his program, Rodrigo González expressed his discontent, ensuring that religious and national symbols should never be used as an object of ridicule, regardless of people’s beliefs or political positions. “Religious symbols, national symbols, can never be used as a reason for ridicule, much less believe that this is a transgression, it is freedom, because it is a lack of respect,” said the presenter.
The popular ‘stuffed animal‘ expanded his argument by pointing out that, even if religious beliefs are not shared, respect for these symbols should prevail. “Even if you are not religious, it is an unacceptable lack of respect. It is like because you are not patriotic, are you going to accept that a person spits on your flag? No. The symbols are respected, you can disagree, have ideas against, but harmonious coexistence lies in respect for thinking differently,” he commented.
Rodrigo González’s comment also addressed a broader social issue, pointing out that events like this contribute to the generalization of the LGBT community. According to the presenter, the use of religious symbols in contexts that many consider disrespectful negatively affects public perception of an entire community. “What’s worse is that because of people who don’t think like you, an entire community is put in the same bag,” he said.
