Rodrigo González, popularly known as ‘Peluchín’, did not hesitate to express his annoyance at the attitude of Franco Cabrera, who omitted any criticism towards Christian Cuevaon his television show after the footballer’s recent party. The controversy broke out after Christian Cueva and André Carrillo were seen in a nightclub consuming alcoholic beverages, despite the recent elimination of the Peruvian team from the Copa América. Both players, despite the criticism of the fans, were called up again by coach Jorge Fossati.
The incident came to light thanks to Francisco Naquira Vergara, who posted the images on his Instagram stories. Under the username “pancho_naquira”, Naquira tagged the players in the early hours of July 1st. In the videos, you can see André Carrillo waving to the camera and dancing with a drink in hand, while Christian Cueva also appears enjoying the atmosphere with a glass in his possession.
Pedro García’s harsh criticism of Christian Cueva and the omission of Franco Cabrera
“Cueva is a question mark. Instead of going to a discotheque, he should rest so that a team can call him. He has to do himself a favour and provide an image that will help him get a team, and the images that Cueva regularly provides do not help him. He is sabotaging himself by appearing in non-footballing shots, in another role. He is not on holiday, he does not have a team. It is different,” said the sports journalist in the latest programme of ‘Al Ángulo’.

At that moment, Franco Cabrera, far from expressing an opinion, abruptly left the program, generating even more suspicion.

What did Rodrigo González say about Franco Cabrera?
Rodrigo Gonzalez was not oblivious to this extra-sporting incident involving the Peruvian national team players and, even worse, to the omission of Franco Cabrera, a well-known sports programme host. The popular ‘Peluchín’ called him ‘shameless’ for being a participant in this controversial event involving the ‘Bicolor’ footballers.
“What a nerve! Why didn’t you respond to your teammate? Why didn’t you tell him ‘I was there too’, if you had first-hand information. That’s the problem with having people who are both judge and party in positions that should be impartial, people who question, who don’t take part in the players’ party. He prefers to be the players’ sidekicks, join in their parties and use that opportunity, instead of being loyal to the public. He can’t respond, because he’s been both judge and party. He remained silent even with them,” emphasized the popular ‘Peluchín’.
Christian Cueva and André Carrillo celebrated in a party after Peru’s elimination from the Copa América
Christian Cueva and André Carrillo were seen celebrating last weekend, just after the Peruvian national team lost its last match in the 2024 Copa América against Argentina on Saturday, June 29.

The team led by Jorge Fosatti had a poor performance in this international tournament, resulting in Peru being one of the first teams eliminated in the group stage. This situation left thousands of Peruvians disappointed who hoped that the 11 players would advance to the next stage.
