Italian Roma achieved a difficult victory over its German guest, Bayer Leverkusen, 1-0 at the Olympic Stadium in the capital, in the first leg of the semi-finals of the league competition, thanks to Eduardo Bovi’s goal in the 63rd minute.
The two teams will meet again next Thursday at the “Bay Arena” in Leverkusen.
Roma succeeded in exploiting the ground and the public in its endeavor to enhance its chances of continuing the journey in the competition, on which it has high hopes to ensure its presence in the Champions League competition next season, after its chances of reserving its ticket through the league diminished, as it ranks seventh.
It is the fourth time in the last six years that Rome has reached the semi-finals in various continental competitions after 2018 when it was knocked out by Liverpool in the Champions League semi-finals, then 2021 when it was knocked out by Manchester United in the semi-finals of the European League and last year when it beat Leicester City on its way to the title of “European Conference” at the expense of Feyenoord Rotterdam.
