The Dubai International Sports Conference, a member of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, will begin at 7:30 pm today, in its 19th session, at the Atlantis, The Palm, with the participation of a group of the brightest current and former football stars.
The conference will begin with a dialogue session entitled “Football Talents,” during which the captain of the Portuguese national team and the Saudi Al-Nasr club, Cristiano Ronaldo, and the goalkeeper of the Belgium national team and Real Madrid, Thibaut Courtois, will speak.
The session will be followed by the 15th edition of the Dubai Globe Soccer Awards, in the midst of a gathering of prominent figures and celebrities, as large numbers of football stars are expected to attend, most notably Real Madrid and England national team midfielder Jude Bellingham, and Barcelona and Spanish national team winger Lamine Yamal. The American Inter Miami player, the Argentine legend Lionel Messi, and the French international Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe, in addition to other prominent figures from international clubs and organizations.
The Dubai Globe Soccer ceremony includes the presentation of 15 main awards in various categories, including the best male and female footballer, the best men’s football club, the best women’s football club, the Maradona Award, and four awards for the best player’s sporting career.
Since its launch in 2010, the Dubai Globe Soccer Awards have brought together the most prominent stakeholders in the world of football, during celebratory evenings at the local, regional and international levels, while the Dubai International Sports Conference provides an ideal platform to discuss some of the major issues in the field of football.
The second session will be held tomorrow morning at the Sirro One Zabeel Hotel and is entitled “Talent… from discovery to championships,” and the former Manchester United and England national team captain, Rio Ferdinand, will speak.
The organizers of the Dubai Globe Soccer Award had announced, earlier, that the public would be given the opportunity to attend the proceedings of the Dubai International Sports Conference and the award ceremony, by offering 200 tickets, of which 150 were allocated “Platinum” tickets and 50 were “Winners” tickets. The Dubai Globe Soccer Awards captured global attention with more than 100 million fans casting their votes from more than 200 countries from all over the world, a significant increase over last year’s edition of 70 million votes.
The Dubai Sports Council launched the Dubai International Sports Conference in 2006, as a global platform to meet decision-makers and stars of playing, training, arbitration and management in world football.
The Emirati project aimed to introduce initiatives, review successful experiences, dialogue with specialists, build effective and successful partnerships between those working in the sports sector in the region and the world, and create a successful model that achieves the desired development of football.
The Dubai Sports Council said in a press statement: “The past 18 editions presented 223 topics related to all aspects of football, with the participation of 370 speakers.”
The statement added: “The Dubai International Sports Conference has been keen on an annual basis to play its pioneering role as a global platform for the development of football in Dubai, the UAE and the world, since the Dubai Sports Council began organizing it in 2006, where those with successful professional experiences and international football stars, including players and coaches, gather.” And decision makers to dialogue about the reality and future of football and the challenges facing this most popular sport in the world.”
