In the first quarter of 2023, the law, which prohibits LGBT propaganda, will work in a preventive mode, Roskomnadzor (RKN) told Izvestia.
The department said that “they did not issue orders to audiovisual services and did not draw up protocols for violating the specified norm of the law” – so far only measures are being taken to clarify the requirements.
“Regulatory documents do not provide for the creation and maintenance of a register of materials or individual scenes of films and TV shows that violate the law on the prohibition of propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations, pedophilia and gender reassignment. The decision on the presence of such scenes is made by the owners of the services independently or by Roskomnadzor on the basis of expert opinions, ”the RKN explained to Izvestia.
At the same time, some services have already begun to independently edit or remove content. But Roskomnadzor emphasized that so far they have not presented any requirements and sanctions in relation to the services.
“Since the entry into force of the law on the ban on LGBT propaganda, Roskomnadzor has not issued orders to audiovisual services and has not drawn up protocols for violating this provision of the law,” Izvestia was told.
