Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has announced that if the Indian team wins the Hockey World Cup, the players will be awarded a prize of Rs 1 crore each. It is noteworthy that this series is going to start in the state of Odisha on the 13th.
The matches will be held at two stadiums in Bhubaneswar and Rourkela. A total of 16 countries are participating in this series. India participates with the status of the host team. Indian team is placed in ‘D’ category. England, Spain and Wales are also in the same category.
In this context, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik met the Indian team players who are camping in Odisha to participate in the series. He said that if the Indian team wins the World Cup, the players will be given a prize of Rs 1 crore each. He also congratulated the Indian players and expressed his hope that India will win the title.
Odisha successfully hosted the Hockey World Cup in 2018.
