Latur: Panjancholi is a village in Latur district of Maharashtra state. 5,947 people live in this village. 930 of them are taxpayers. In this case, the village administration has initiated a new plan to fully collect panchayat tax from them.
The village president, Geethanjali Hanumanthe convened the village council meeting last Friday. In the meeting attended by members of the village administration, its former president Srikanth Salunge proposed a scheme to increase tax revenue.
Free accident insurance worth Rs 10 lakh can be provided to those who pay 100 per cent of the taxes levied by the village administration, he said. All the members supported this project. The motion was then carried unanimously.
Kant Salunge told reporters, “We have announced this project to improve the village by increasing the tax revenue. Like this, some other projects were also passed in the Gram Sabha meeting,” he said.
