Kanpur: Rs 284 crore has so far been seized from the homes of Uttar Pradesh businessman Piyush Jain. He has been arrested in connection with this.
Piyush Jain hails from Kannauj in Uttar Pradesh. He manufactures and sells perfumes under the name Autochem Industries. He has offices in various cities including Kanpur, Mumbai, Gujarat and Dubai.
Complaints arose that Piyush Jain, a close associate of Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav, had evaded GST and income tax. In this connection, the Income Tax Department officials and the GST Investigation Department (DGGI) officials conducted simultaneous raids on the houses and offices owned by Piyush Jain on the 22nd.
The money was confiscated from his ancestral home in Kannoj, Kanpur. 177 crore at Kanpur house and Rs. 107 crore at Kannoj house so far 284 crore confiscated Has been done. 25 kg of gold jewelery and 250 kg of silver were seized. Property documents worth Rs 400 crore have also been seized.
Sources in the Income Tax Department said:
Piyush Jain’s Kanpur and Kannauj houses are not equipped with CCTV cameras. CCTV cameras are not fitted so that those who come and go in the house do not know what is going on in the house.

Piyush Jain was arrested yesterday after about 50 hours of interrogation. He was produced at the Kanpur court yesterday after being lodged at the Kanpur police station overnight. The judge ordered him remanded in court custody for 14 days.
