New Delhi:“Rs. 60,000 crore has been allocated for the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Scheme in the budget for the financial year 2023-24,” Union Minister of State for Rural Development Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti said.
The second phase of the central budget session is scheduled to begin on March 13 and end on April 6. After a gap of one month after the end of the first session, both the Houses of the Parliament met yesterday. The meeting was held on the second day today.
When asked how much money has been allocated for the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Scheme in the 2023-24 financial year budget, Union Minister of State for Rural Development Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti replied: Rs 60,000 crore has been allocated for the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Scheme in the 2023-24 financial year budget.
The Central Government provides funds to the States and Union Territories based on the requirement of work for implementation of this scheme. “The Ministry of Rural Development seeks additional funds from the Ministry of Finance when there is a financial need for the works,” he said.
