The head of the Russian delegation to the OSCE Forum for Security Co-operation, Konstantin Gavrilov, on Thursday, July 22, threatened to leave the forum if Ukraine continues its false rhetoric. He stated this during his speech at the plenary session.
“If the Ukrainian delegation continues to adhere to a false, irresponsible rhetoric, then a professional discussion will not work, and their Western sponsors will continue to listen to the weekly insinuations of their southern neighbors without the participation of the Russian delegation,” Gavrilov said.
He is confident that “rash statements about the alleged concentration of the Russian Armed Forces in the border areas <...> are used by representatives of Ukraine at the FSOB as a screen for the” unusual military activity “that has been going on for seven years in the Donbass with the involvement of up to 60 thousand Ukrainian servicemen.” …
According to him, after the completion of control checks, Russian troops returned to their places of permanent deployment.
Russia condemns “Kiev’s bloody punitive operation against the population of Donbass” and calls for a peaceful settlement of the internal Ukrainian conflict in a direct dialogue between the country’s authorities with Donetsk and Luhansk, with strict observance of the Minsk agreements “in their entirety and consistency.” He also encouraged others to do the same.
On July 21, Russia’s plenipotentiary in the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) for Donbass, Boris Gryzlov, said that Kiev would intensify armed actions in Donbass, including against the civilian population.
On July 12, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed the opinion that Kiev simply does not need Donbass, which is increasingly proved by the policy pursued by the Ukrainian authorities. He added that the results of the Minsk agreements give a real chance to peacefully restore the territorial integrity of Ukraine, having reached an agreement with representatives of the Donbass republics through the mediation of Russia, Germany and France.
Since 2014, Kiev has been conducting a military operation against the residents of Donbass, who refused to recognize the results of the coup and the new government in Ukraine. The settlement issues are being discussed in the Minsk and Normandy formats.
