The grouping of the Armed Forces (AF) of the Russian Federation “West” destroyed two Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance groups (DRGs) in the Kupyansk direction. This was announced by the head of the group’s press center, Colonel Sergei Zybinsky on Thursday, April 13.
“In the Kupyansk direction, the military personnel of the Zapad group of troops opened and destroyed two enemy DRGs from the 14th separate mechanized brigade and the 103rd separate theroborne brigade,” Zybinsky said.
He also said that the forces of the group had lied to three rotations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in this direction in the area of the settlements of Ivanovka, Stelmakhovka and Artemovka.
A day earlier, the official representative of the Ministry of Defense, Lieutenant-General Igor Konashenkov, announced the suppression of the actions of three sabotage groups of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the areas of the settlements of Pershotravneve and Berestovoye in the Kharkiv region, as well as Stelmakhovka in the LPR, in the Kupyansk direction by the Russian forces. According to Konashenkov, the activities of two more sabotage groups were stopped in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR).
Prior to this, on April 10, the head of the DPR Ministry of Internal Affairs, Alexei Dykyi, said that Russian forces were destroying three to four Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance groups a week. According to him, at the moment, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have stepped up the activities of the DRG, increasing the number of terrorist attacks, while there is no particular activation on the line of contact.
Russia continues a special operation to protect the Donbass, whose residents refused to recognize the results of the 2014 coup d’état in Ukraine. The decision to start it was made on February 24, 2022 against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by Ukrainian troops.
