“Small-arms fire shot down a Ukrainian attack drone while approaching the building of special building No. 1, which stores American-made nuclear fuel and solid radioactive waste,” said the official representative of the department, Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov.
The downed drone crashed onto the roof of building No. 1, there were no serious damages and no casualties, the ministry said.
As noted in the Ministry of Defense, the Armed Forces of Ukraine over the past day fired eight large-caliber shells at the residential areas of Energodar, where the power plant is located. It is noted that some residents were injured.
“The shelling of the inhabitants of the city of Energodar was carried out from the firing positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the areas of the settlements of Nikopol and Marganets in the Dnipropetrovsk region, on the opposite bank of the Kakhovka reservoir,” the statement said.
In addition, two Ukrainian Su-25s were shot down in Zaporozhye and in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR). Since the beginning of the special military operation, the Russian military has eliminated 276 aircraft belonging to the Ukrainian side, as well as 148 helicopters, 1,832 drones, 370 air defense systems, 4,408 tanks and armored vehicles, 3,354 field artillery and mortar guns, over 5.1 thousand units of special vehicles, Konashenkov said. .
Earlier on Monday, it became known that this week a mission of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), consisting of 14 representatives, including the head of the organization, Rafael Grossi, will visit ZNPP.
Russia’s permanent representative to international organizations in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov, said that the Russian Federation made a significant contribution to the preparation of this mission. He also noted that he hopes for the further elimination of numerous speculations about the unfavorable state of affairs at the ZNPP.
