Russian actor Sergei Bystritsky, who voiced Matthew Perry in the series “Friends,” commented to Izvestia on October 29 on reports of his death.
“A wonderful artist, talented, he could still do a lot. It’s a shame that this happened,” Bystritsky said.
He stressed that Perry had talent, and “Friends” influenced entire generations, especially in the United States.
According to Bystritsky, Perry himself contributed a lot to the success of the series, whose phrases entered the everyday life of the American audience. The dubbing actor said that the flavor of this vocabulary was difficult to convey in translation.
Bystritsky called Perry one of the great actors and a wonderful comedian, noting the sincerity of his performance.
It was announced earlier that day that Perry had died at the age of 54. According to preliminary information, he drowned. A source told TMZ that Perry was found in a jacuzzi at his home in California. No traces of drugs were found near the scene of the actor’s death. Rescuers responded to a call about cardiac arrest.
US police still began an investigation into the actor’s death. It is noted that no traces of violent death were found at the scene of Perry’s death, but the Los Angeles Police Department’s homicide and robbery department began investigating the incident.
Perry’s colleagues on the TV series “Friends” called his death a huge loss for the world. Actor Michael Rapaport, who played police officer Gary in the series, noted that Perry was always “nice, cool, calm and talented,” and Maggie Wheeler, who played Chandler’s girlfriend, wrote that she would fondly remember the happy moments of their work together.
Perry gained widespread popularity thanks to his role as Chandler Bing in the American TV series Friends. The actor is also known for his roles in the films “Dad Is 17 Again,” “The Fraudsters,” “The Whole Nine Yards,” “If You Hurry, You Make People Laugh,” “Mr. Sunshine,” “Tango for Three.”
