The former Al Ain club and UAE national team star, Subit Khater, confirmed that it is difficult to choose the best coach to coach the national team, pointing out that there are many coaches who have achieved different achievements, each of which has its value and importance.
Khater told Emirates Today: “The comparison between the Brazilian Mario Zagallo and his compatriot Carlos Alberto Pereira, the Frenchman Bruno Metsu, and the citizen coach Mehdi Ali is very difficult, because the achievement achieved by each coach is different from the other,” and he explained: “Certainly the achievement he achieved Mario Zagallo leading the national team to qualify for the 1990 World Cup has great value, especially since it is the first time that (the Whites) participate in the global event.”
He added: “Carlos Alberto Pereira completed the mission and led the team in the World Cup in Italy, while the late coach Bruno Mezzo had an important and significant imprint, which was leading the team to win its first foreign title, an event that is also important, especially since (the Whites) waited a long time to achieve this achievement.” ».
On the other hand, Sebit Khater stressed that coach Mahdi Ali, nicknamed “The Engineer,” has a great imprint on Emirates football. He said: “Mahdi is considered the most prominent citizen coach in the history of the national team, as he led a prominent group of players to present wonderful football, in terms of level and results, by winning the (Gulf) title and the 2015 Asian Cup bronze.”
He continued: “I believe that the capabilities of (the engineer) must be utilized to serve Emirates football, as it is not reasonable for Mehdi Ali to be outside the teams’ development plans in general, after he achieved great success, as he must have a role in the coming period in any of the positions.” Through which he provides his expertise to develop Emirati football.”
