The excitement over the crisis of Egyptian star Mohamed Salah and his failure to complete the African Cup of Nations currently being held in Côte d’Ivoire continues.
Despite the reports that indicated the absence of the best player in Africa twice for a period of up to 3 weeks, Liverpool raised controversy over the possibility of his return to participate in the continental championship.
Liverpool FC issued an official statement regarding the return of Egyptian star Mohamed Salah to the Reds.
Liverpool said, in a statement on its official website: “Mohamed Salah will return to the club’s training center on Wednesday to begin an intensive rehabilitation program with the medical staff to recover from the muscle injury he suffered with the Egyptian national team last week.”
He added: “The injury was worse than first expected, and forced Salah to leave the field in the first half of the Egypt-Ghana match.”
He stated: “An agreement has been reached with the Egyptian Football Association regarding the player undergoing treatment in Liverpool.”
He continued: “Salah will begin working immediately with the club’s medical staff upon his return to Merseyside with the aim of returning to the field as soon as possible with the club and national team, to give him the best chance to return to competing in the African Cup of Nations if Egypt continues to advance in the tournament.”
