San Francisco. Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella announced on Monday that the company is hiring former OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and co-founder Greg Brockman to advance its advanced AI research.
Altman, who was fired as CEO by OpenAI last week, had been in talks to return to the company, but the ChatGPT developer appointed former Twitch CEO Emmett Shear as interim CEO.
“We’re excited to share the news that Sam Altman and Greg Brockman will be joining Microsoft to lead a new advanced AI research team along with their colleagues,” Nadella said in a post on X.
“We look forward to moving quickly to provide the resources they need to succeed,” he said.
“We look forward to getting to know and working with Emmett Shear and OpenAI’s new leadership team,” Nadella said.
Microsoft has invested more than $10 billion in OpenAI.
In January this year, it announced Phase 3 of its long-term partnership with OpenAI through a multi-year, billion-dollar investment to accelerate AI breakthroughs and ensure these benefits are widely shared across the world. To be shared with.
