São Paulo opened an advantage against Palmeiras this Wednesday (5) in the dispute for a place in the semifinal of the Copa do Brasil. At Morumbi, the home team won the first leg for the quarterfinals by 1-0.
The only goal of the duel came only in the second half, in the 36th minute, when the lateral Rafinha kicked from the entrance of the penalty area and still had a deflection in the defender Luan to overcome the goalkeeper Weverton.
With the result, the tricolor team will have the advantage of playing for a draw in the return match, next Thursday (13th), at 8 pm (Brasília time), at Allianz Parque.
In addition to the advantage, the triumph at Morumbi was also a test of overcoming difficulties for the squad commanded by Dorival Júnior, who disputed the duel with a series of absences, among them Igor Vinicius, Moreira, Talles Costa, Galoppo, Raí Ramos, Beraldo, Erison and Wellington.
During the classic, the casualty list got even bigger at halftime, when Luciano and Calleri had to leave the match due to physical problems. They gave way to Juan and Rodriguinho.
Still during the final stage, at 21 minutes, Alan Franco, another injured, left crying for Diego Costa to enter.
It is worth remembering that, in the Copa do Brasil last year, the two teams faced each other in the round of 16 and, in the first leg, São Paulo also won at Morumbi by 1-0. Afterwards, Palmeiras won by 2-1 at normal time at Allianz Parque, but the tricolors advanced with a victory on penalties.
