The Kudumbashree sisters who fulfilled a big dream by gathering the fruits of their own labor like ants gathered food, are now the stars of social media.
The members of Vellanathuruth Srimuruka Neighborhood in Mukumpuzha Ward of Alappad Panchayat of Kollam District have realized their long time dream. All the members of Kudumbashree went on an akayatra last November 22.
Nine people, including 78-year-old Satirathnam, are now in the joy and happiness of an unforgettable journey in their lives. They have realized this dream trip by pooling the money received from various income-generating activities of Srimuruka Catering, which they have been running for years. The group reached Ernakulam from Kollam and then took a metro ride there and then reached Thiruvananthapuram by plane from Nedumbassery. Kudumbashree members returned after visiting the shopping mall in Thiruvananthapuram.

These members are happy to realize their dream with their own hard earned money. Salina Vinayakumar, who is also the secretary and former panchayat president of the neighborhood group, and Sindhu Kumudesan, the president of the neighborhood group, took the initiative to organize such a trip for their members. Most of the women are the ones who often sacrifice their own desires and dreams for the sake of others. These Kudumbashree members are also role models for many to give wings to their own aspirations.
