Al-Qadisiyah Saudi Club announced a major deal, publishing the news of the transfer of Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to the club, coming from Marseille, France, according to what the two clubs announced.
The Saudi club welcomed the 35-year-old striker via a video on its Instagram account, saying: “Protect your nets, the Black Panther is here.”
As for Marseille, it thanked its former player via its account on the “X” website (formerly Twitter), saying, “Always smiling and working hard,” adding, “He shone with his talent during the 2023-2024 season.”
Despite the French club’s disappointing season, finishing eighth in the domestic league, and several changes in its coaches, the Gabonese striker contributed 41 goals, scoring 30 and creating 11 in all competitions.
He also broke the record and became the all-time top scorer in the European League (Europa League) with 34 goals, after scoring 10 last season, and was chosen as the best player in the competition.
Aubameyang joined Marseille in 2023, coming from Chelsea, to replace another veteran striker, the Chilean Alexis Sanchez, who returned to Inter Milan after spending one year with the French team.
Marseille is expected to compensate for the Gabonese’s departure by signing Englishman Mason Greenwood, who arrived in the southern French city on Wednesday evening to put the final touches on his transfer contract.
But the England winger’s arrival from Manchester United has already sparked controversy due to his suspension in 2022 following allegations of rape and assault on his partner, which were later dropped.
