The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the resumption of the work of the Kingdom’s diplomatic mission in Syria.
The Saudi Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the decision came “out of the fraternal bonds that unite the two peoples, and out of keenness to contribute to the development of joint Arab action and to enhance security and stability in the region.”
She added that the decision took into account the decision issued by the ministerial meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of Arab Countries, which was held recently in Cairo, to resume the participation of Syrian delegations in the meetings of the Council of the League of Arab States and all its affiliated organizations and agencies.

On the other hand, the official Syrian news agency said late on Tuesday evening that Syria had decided to resume the work of its diplomatic mission in Saudi Arabia.
The Secretary-General of the Arab League, which includes 22 Arab countries, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, stressed two days ago that Syria’s return to the League does not mean the end of the crisis for sure.
However, he made it clear during a press conference with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, shortly after the end of the extraordinary meeting that was held in Cairo, today, Sunday, that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad can participate in the next summit if he wishes, referring to the one that will be held in Saudi Arabia on the 19th of this month. .
He added that the Syrian government will be present in all upcoming Arab meetings.
