The “Civil Status” in Saudi Arabia clarified that the amendment contained in the document copies paragraph of the executive regulations amendments to the civil status system is concerned with age groups from (10) to (14) years, and some sick cases.
Today, Friday, the Civil Status Department denied what was circulated about the abolition of the obligation of women to cover the hair of the head in the national identity, after approving the new amendments to the executive regulations of the civil status system.
The Ministry of the Interior had approved new amendments to the executive regulations of the civil status system, most notably directing all governmental and non-governmental agencies whose work requires verification of national identity or documents issued by civil status, to be satisfied with recording the data recorded in it without taking a copy of it.
Today, the Official Gazette published the new amendments that came as follows:
The competent authority referred to in Article “Tenth” of the system is the Sub-Committee.
A- The personal photograph and the photograph taken in the automated systems required for the issuance of the national identity shall be modern, coloured, clear and show all facial features, with a white background in an opposite position, without glasses and non-medical lenses, and devoid of any adornment, and may not be in professional clothing or for any specific category.
b- The Ministry’s Agency for Civil Status shall set controls for personal photos and photos taken in automated systems for some age groups and people with special needs, and for other cases not mentioned in this article.
Article No. 146:
The national identity “printed or digital” contains the following:
1- A personal photo.
2- The full name, provided that it is not less than four names “first name, father’s name, grandfather’s name, family name or nickname” in both Arabic and English.
3- Place of birth.
4- Date of birth in the Hijri and Gregorian dates.
5- Civil registry number.
6- Expiry date in Hijri and Gregorian dates.
7- The version number.
8- Official logos and security features.
9- Any data that the Ministry’s Agency for Civil Status deems to be added or deleted.
Article No. 157:
A- Civil status issues the national identity “printed or digital” and all printed and digital documents such as “family record, birth certificate, death certificate, data slides, amendment notices” or others.
B- All governmental and non-governmental agencies whose work requires verification of national identity or documents issued by the Civil Status Department, should be satisfied with recording the data recorded therein without taking a copy of it.
C – The civil status shall be responsible for the integrity and authenticity of the national identity and the documents issued by it and for their verification.
D- The Ministry’s Agency for Civil Status shall set the necessary controls and procedures for the issuance and renewal of the national identity “printed or digital” and the documents issued by it.
