The General Authority for Food Security in Saudi Arabia announced today (Friday) the launch of the “Enough Lasts” campaign, to raise awareness to reduce food loss and waste, and reduce some manifestations of waste during the holy month of Ramadan.
The authority stated that the campaign witnessed a great interaction from members of society as well as government agencies, the private sector and associations, within the framework of joint social responsibility, which stems from a religious, societal and national perspective.
She added that the launch of the campaign stems from the authority’s role in raising awareness of the importance of food security, promoting sound consumption practices, and stimulating the adoption of solutions that contribute to reducing food waste.
The authority revealed that, according to the results of the “baseline” study, the percentage of food loss and waste is about 33%, and the value of food waste is estimated at 40 billion riyals annually, noting that the campaign aims to emphasize the importance of reducing food loss and waste, and preserving food components. National economy.
The authority pointed out that the campaign witnessed, immediately after its launch, a great interaction from members of society as well as government agencies, the private sector and associations, within the framework of shared social responsibility, which stems from a religious, societal and national perspective, stressing that the campaign will continue until the end of Ramadan, while awareness programs continue through The official social media accounts of the National Food Loss and Waste Reduction Program in the Kingdom to “last” throughout the year.
