Acting Chairman of the Saudi General Transport Authority, Dr. Rumaih bin Muhammad Al-Rumaih, signed a contract with the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (KITAK LEM) in London to support the organization’s project “IMOCares”, which aims to support international efforts to enable modern technologies in the maritime sector, and support the development of technology in the world.
This project aims to enhance joint work and support joint efforts with the International Maritime Organization to reach a green marine future and a blue economy and support developing countries in a way that enhances marine development and contributes to capacity building for the member states of the organization and access to a more sustainable future that depends on advanced technology that supports the protection of the marine environment and preservation On natural resources, according to the Saudi Press Agency, “SPA”.
The project includes a global marine technology hackathon, a scientific conference, specialized workshops, research and studies on innovation in marine technologies, and periodic bulletins and reports on the reality of the maritime sector.
These efforts of the Kingdom come as an extension of the national strategy for transport and logistics services in line with international efforts in this regard, given the great importance of the global maritime sector and a strategic dimension to all other sectors, foremost of which is the global economy and the global trade movement.
