Riyadh: Saudi businessman Muhammad Al Qahtani collapsed and died during a speech. The incident took place while he was speaking at the Arab African Anti-Counterfeiting Conference organized by the Council of Arab Economic Unity under the Arab League in Cairo, Egypt.

Mohammed Al Qahtani, Chairman of Al Salam Holding Company, has been living in the UAE for a long time. He holds various honorary positions and is also the goodwill ambassador of many agencies. Muhammad Al Qahtani fell backwards while giving a speech. The people who were with him rushed him to the hospital but could not be saved.

The conference was attended by representatives, ambassadors and dignitaries of international, regional and Arab authorities and organizations. Egyptian media reported that the conference was suspended following the unexpected death of Mohammed al-Qahtani. Social media users shared a video of Muhammad Al Qahtani falling backwards during a speech. Just before collapsing, he praised the UAE’s new president, Mohammed bin Zayed, as a champion of humanity and peace, media reported. The conference was to support the reforms of Egyptian President Al Sisi.
