The court imposed a fine against Saudi citizen Abdullah Eid Ayed Al Utaibi for violating the Anti-Commercial Fraud Act and the Trademark Act. The court also ordered the confiscation of fake products seized from him. He used to sell fake products through his celebrity Snapchat account based in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. Based on the information received in this regard, the Ministry of Commerce arrested a Saudi national in February this year in collaboration with the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property and security departments.
He had made extensive preparations to sell fake versions of branded products of globally renowned companies. His fraud involved renting two rooms in a prominent five-star hotel in northern Riyadh. The investigation revealed that he was traveling in a luxury car to deliver the products as per the orders received from the customers.

A raid on a luxury apartment by the Ministry of Commerce in collaboration with the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property and the police unearthed a huge collection of fake vanity bags, watches, footwear and ready-made clothes. The price of these was estimated at seven lakh riyals. A video containing the footage of the raid was also released by the Ministry of Commerce that day.
